A Maximalist Love Affair in Michigan
There are weddings that gently unfold - and then there are weddings that burst open with energy, personality, and soul. Nicole and Mitch’s celebration was the latter in every way. A kaleidoscopic mix of Old Hollywood glamour, Studio 54 edge, and a modern disco love affair, their wedding weekend was a textural, layered, and curated expression of everything they love: fashion, fun, and each other. We began with a rehearsal dinner that set the tone for what was to come. Nicole wore a fitted, semi-formal white dress with a feathered, off-the-shoulder top and rhinestone detailing throughout - topped with a short pink veil that was equal parts cheeky and chic. The color story of the evening was a saturated blend of oranges, blues, golds, and greens - woven through the florals and flatware. Their wedding was originally planned for a later date, but when life threw them a curveball, we reimagined and executed the entire event in just three months. The result was proof that spontaneity can be a gift. With Michigan’s natural beauty as our canvas, we leaned into a juxtaposition of organic and glamorous textures - pairing curated maximalism with disco-era cool. The ceremony took place outdoors in a garden, with a U-shaped chair layout that placed the couple and their guests in a cocoon of intimacy. Their dogs, trained to trot down the aisle with enviable precision, added a personal, heartwarming layer to the moment. Every detail was intentional, but nothing ever felt too serious.
The cocktail hour invited guests to socialize around the property’s pool, surrounded by chartreuse linens that mirrored the blooming hydrangeas nearby. The effect was surreal - like stepping into a painting where color is emotion and joy is a palette of its own. The celebration then moved under a custom tent where the reception came alive in vibrant technicolor. The design centered around chartreuse, muted coral, marigold, and hot pink - but the guiding principle was more about saturation and surprise than sticking to a fixed palette. Color became a language spoken fluently throughout the evening.
Tables were set with bold florals and black-and-gold flatware. Disco balls caught the light at every turn. Groovy lines and bold fonts adorned the paper goods, calling back to the 70s in a fresh, modern way. The tent glowed with a soft vibrance - an intentional play on nostalgia and newness. At the center, a large black-and-white checkered dance floor beckoned everyone to throw inhibition aside and lean into joy. Nicole stunned in a bridal gown featuring intricate appliqué detailing on the straps and down the back, paired with chartreuse heels that echoed the tones dancing across the linen and décor. Fashion was a clear throughline for both the couple and their guests. Every look—from vintage sequins to neon suits - felt like a love letter to individuality.

It was spontaneous, slightly chaotic, and completely perfect. A celebration, not just of marriage, but of color, movement, and shared experience. Nicole and Mitch’s wedding was a masterclass in juxtaposition - combining textural, multimedia elements with meaningful traditions and bold statements.
